434 Speed Limits

A couple of years ago the speed limits were changed on 434 through the Winter Springs area. It used to be a 45 mph road (50 mph from 419 to 417). In 2024 FDOT changed the limits to anywhere from 35 to 45, depending on where you are on the road. The funny thing is, back when the limits were higher, a lot of people used to drive under the speed limits (35-40 in the 45 zone). But now everyone seems to drive over the speed limit. Of course, the changes from 40 to 35 to 40 along the route doesn't help keep speeds consistent. If you're a driver and miss a speed limit sign, you might wind up owing City Hall some money.

I'm aware of those speed limit changes. There's a rumor floating around that they changed the speed limits in typical small town fashion: to try to write tickets. The worst part is that the limit changes depending on where you are on the road. Almost like they're hoping you don't see the signs?
